About Us – Crestline Tree Service

Crestline Tree Service is built on a legacy that began in the 1950s with Coley Tree & Demolition, founded by Archie Coley and Faye Coley in the Hayward–Oakland area of the Bay Area. Over the following decades, the company operated throughout Northern California and the Central Coast, taking on a wide range of demanding projects—from large-scale tree removal and land clearing to demolition, excavation, and infrastructure work.

That work included clearing operations for major developments such as Highway 280, projects at hospitals in the Salinas area, residential and commercial demolition, and even the installation of early radio and cell towers across the Bay Area. The company earned a reputation for taking on challenging jobs and getting them done safely and efficiently.

In the late 1970s, operations relocated to Santa Cruz, where the Coley family has continued working in the industry ever since.

Owner Josh Coley was raised in this environment and worked alongside his grandfather from a very young age, along with his brother, who have also been involved in the work since childhood. He was immersed in the day-to-day operations of the business—spending time on job sites, around equipment, and in the field—gaining firsthand experience in tree work, demolition, and excavation long before entering the industry professionally.

As his career progressed, Josh expanded into the construction side of the industry, building Crestline Construction and bringing a higher level of organization, efficiency, and professionalism to every project.

Crestline Tree Service represents a return to those roots. After years of being asked to take on tree work, the decision was made to build a dedicated division—one that combines generations of experience with modern equipment and a skilled crew to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality results.
